Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 per annum

Basis: Full time

Please note: This is a hybrid role with at least 2/3 days a week required in the head office (Pontypridd).

Role responsibilities

  • The IT and Digital Services function ensures the right technology and systems are in places to fulfil the technical needs of TfW and ensure the organisation can make informed business decisions.
  • You play a key role in delivering the internal software developments and supporting our software development team, that supports TfW's cross-platform digital customer solutions, and enterprise applications, and ongoing evolution towards a world class multi-modal transport provider.
  • Develop TfW's new and existing software platforms, leading the development of clean, secure, and maintainable code through mentoring other developers within the team and providing constructive feedback through code reviews.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to more junior colleagues through actively contributing in workshops and peer programming to support development and adoption of Software Development Lifecycle best practice.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders and solution architects to ensure the digital solutions landscape enables improvements in TfW business performance and delivers both internal and external customer satisfaction.

Who we're looking for

  • Proven experience and theoretical knowledge in designing, developing, and maintaining complex software systems including experience in Azure Logic Apps, Web Apps and C# Function App development.
  • Proven experience in implementing and leading Agile methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban.
  • Skilled in engaging with stakeholders to gather requirements, provide technical insights, and ensure alignment with business goals.
  • Track record of driving continuous improvement initiatives, optimizing development processes, and adopting new technologies to enhance team productivity and software quality.

Welsh Language Skills

The ability to speak/write Welsh would make a great addition to your application, but it is not essential for this role. Transport for Wales supports and promotes the use of the Welsh Language by employees and will encourage them to develop, improve and maintain their Welsh Language skills. We fully support our people who want to improve their Welsh language skills, and personal development for Welsh Language skills are offered in a variety of ways such as online learning, classroom courses and funding attendance at local community courses.
