Role responsibilities
- The Real-Time Administrator will be responsible for safeguarding the data quality of the Welsh Bus Data Service (WBDS) outputs, working with suppliers and stakeholders to identify and resolve any issues with the Real-Time feed, and ensuring predictions and vehicle matching are maintained at a high level for customers.
- Investigate and resolve all data queries, issues and complaints raised about the WBDS feed by stakeholders, using the systems and tools provided (Horizon, WebDMS, Welsh Bus Data Content Management System and CitySwift) to ensure issues are resolved within a reasonable timeframe.
- Actively and pro-actively monitor WBDS Real-Time feed for matching and tracking issues, identifying the source of these issues using the provided tools, and raising these cases with the necessary stakeholders, using the systems provided and matching reports, in order to reach a resolution and improve vehicle matching.
- Identify where Real-Time predictions are missing, or inaccurate, using systems and reports provided by WBDS suppliers, and determine how these gaps can be resolved so predictions data can be improved.
- Advise and support Local Authority agents, bus operators and drivers on ticket machine data and back-office technical configuration, using existing knowledge on best practice, to ensure they can generate high quality real-time tracking and outputs.
Who we're looking for
- An extensive understanding of real-time system fundamentals and timetables; this could include rail or other modes.
- Experience of using Office 365, Microsoft Excel, SharePoint and Teams.
- Experience of more advanced IT systems such as File Transfer Protocol (FTP), and Extensible Markup Language (XML) file formats.
- Experience of analysing and tracking data across multiple systems and have substantial experience in analysing information to be able to spot errors and inconsistencies.
Welsh Language Skills
The ability to speak/write Welsh would make a great addition to your application, but it is not essential for this role. Transport for Wales supports and promotes the use of the Welsh Language by employees and will encourage them to develop, improve and maintain their Welsh Language skills. We fully support our people who want to improve their Welsh language skills, and personal development for Welsh Language skills are offered in a variety of ways such as online learning, classroom courses and funding attendance at local community courses.
