Role responsibilities

The Continuous Improvement Manager will develop and implement Continuous Improvement (CI) schemes across Transport for Wales (TfW) and its subsidiary partners through the deployment of the CI Toolbox. It will be a key role in developing cultural change and embedding CI. Develop and deliver a vision and strategic plan for LEAN / Continuous improvement across the business and its subsidiary partners that will embed the strategic plans for the implementation of CI that will include operational delivery plans and reporting as well as the expected outcomes through efficiencies across our business. Lead in the promotion and development of continuous improvement across the business by delivering a training programme incorporating a CI toolbox that will include LEAN tools, techniques, leadership skills and behaviours to drive CI through the business in order to build organisational capability in the use of CI. Develop and embed a culture of Continuous Improvement across TfW through the implementation of CI practices into BAU operations in order to foster a culture of continuous improvement and drive efficiencies throughout the business. Identify opportunities to deploy CI Toolbox and techniques across TfW by working with key internal stakeholders to deliver improvements or efficiencies to the organisation and subsidiary partners.

Who we’re looking for

  • Formal CI qualification (LCS Level 2, ICIPS Practitioner / Fellow, Six Sigma qualification) or equivalent demonstrable experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of LEAN / Continuous Improvement tools / techniques and methodologies.
  • Demonstrable experience in applying CI toolbox Inc. LEAN tools and techniques.
  • Successful experience in influencing and operating at a strategic level including the delivery of business strategies.
  • Demonstrable experience in delivering business change programmes.

Welsh Language Skills

The ability to speak/write Welsh would make a great addition to your application, but it is not essential for this role. Transport for Wales supports and promotes the use of the Welsh Language by employees and will encourage them to develop, improve and maintain their Welsh Language skills. We fully support our people who want to improve their Welsh language skills, and personal development for Welsh Language skills are offered in a variety of ways such as online learning, classroom courses and funding attendance at local community courses.
