The Governors of Willow Tree are pleased to advertise a leadership vacancy for the position of Assistant Headteacher and SEND Lead for September 2026. This is a non-class based role.

The school invites applications from highly motivated, committed and organised individuals with the energy and vision to join our excellent and dedicated team in the role of SEND lead. We are looking for an experienced candidate who has the ability to lead SEND in this large school. The successful candidate will be forward thinking to enable the Headteacher to deliver the highest quality education for all our SEND pupils.

The successful candidate is:

  • An experienced SEND leader who is enthusiastic and creative in their approach
  • Knowledgeable about all aspects of SEND
  • An experienced classroom practitioner with high expectations of children’s achievement and behaviour
  • Has a proven track record in leading SEND in a primary school
  • Has excellent communication skills
  • Be a team player, resilient with a positive disposition
  • Able to build effective working relationships with a range of partners and stakeholders
  • Committed to their own and others personal development
  • Supportive of our school vision and values

Willow Tree is a large urban primary school. We are incredibly proud of our wonderful pupils. We were judged outstanding in behaviour and attitudes and good in all other areas in our inspection in October 2024.
