Role Summary
DataForce by TransPerfect is seeking a Language Engineer with idiomatic fluency in English (UK) to join our team in the United Kingdom, working remotely on data curation and evaluation.
Role Responsibilities
- Curate and evaluate linguistic data with accuracy and attention to detail
- Proofread (e.g. audio scripts) and proof-listen audio data (e.g. recorded speech) for accuracy, pronunciation, and expressiveness
- Annotate and label audio data as needed to ensure quality and consistency
- Review and assess outputs generated by speech models
- Execute scripts via command line for task automation or data handling (running, not developing)
- Provide feedback and draw conclusions based on the analyzed data
- Collaborate with the team to continuously improve data quality and task processes
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Linguistics
- Strong understanding of core linguistic concepts such as phonetics, syntax, semantics, and morphology
- Understanding of phonetic transcription (e.g., IPA) or experience with audio and linguistic annotation is a significant advantage
- Idiomatic fluency in English (UK)
- Proficiency in an additional language (such as Italian, French, etc.) is a plus
- Previous experience in similar tasks such as data curation, linguistic evaluation, or phoneme labeling is a plus
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Ability to work independently and manage tasks efficiently
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
