As an Operational Trainer, you will play a key role in delivering and assuring high-quality operational training that underpins the competence of our safety-critical workforce.

Your work will directly support the safe and consistent operation of our services by ensuring training is delivered to a high professional standard, aligned to current industry requirements and business expectations.

You will bring strong operational credibility and a professional, standards-driven approach, contributing to the delivery, assurance, and continuous improvement of operational training across the business.

Working with colleagues across multiple functions, you will help ensure training outputs are consistent, effective, and defensible.

This is a visible and important role.

You will be expected to uphold high standards of professionalism, promote a positive training culture, and act as a role model for operational safety and performance.

The role requires flexibility to deliver training across multiple locations, with your base location being our Hub facility at Huddersfield.

We’re looking for someone who

  • Has strong operational railway experience, with at least 4 years’ current Driver competence
  • Demonstrates a credible, professional and standards-driven approach
  • Communicates clearly and engages effectively with a diverse operational audience
  • Is committed to safety, compliance, and continuous improvement
  • Builds strong working relationships across teams and functions
  • Takes pride in maintaining consistently high training and assessment standards
  • Professional Expectations

As an Operational Trainer, you will

  • Deliver training that is consistent, compliant, and aligned to operational risk
  • Contribute to the assurance and continuous improvement of training materials and programmes
  • Maintain your own professional competence and relevant safety-critical certification
  • Support the development of a high-performing, safety-focused operational workforce
