Overview

There\”s a lot more to this job than checking tickets. It\”s about creating rapport with customers and acting as the face of our business. With a mixture of classroom and practical training, you can progress to a Qualified Conductor in around three months.

Responsibilities

  • Know your stuff, routes and rules; issue tickets and honour rail cards; manage delays and other issues that can be distressing for customers.
  • Provide high quality customer service, clear communication and maintain dedication during challenging situations.
  • Make confident decisions under pressure and be flexible with working hours (this is not a regular 9-to-5 job).

Salary and progression

  • Salary of £35,213 per annum once qualified.
  • During training, salary of £26,960 per annum.
  • Final salary pension scheme and rail travel benefits (free TransPennine Express journeys for you and free leisure journeys for your family).

Eligibility and requirements

  • Not have defective colour vision or undergone laser eye surgery.
  • Be willing to work irregular and unsociable shift patterns.
  • Live within a 60 minute commutable distance from the location you are applying for (evidence may be requested).
  • Be over 18 years old.
  • Be able to pass a drug and alcohol screening and meet the medical requirements for the role.

If you meet the criteria, you may be invited to a medical examination and a drugs/alcohol screening to ensure you can safely carry out the role.
