General Teaching Assistant – Primary School Location: Lambeth, South London Salary: £93–£100 per day Contract: Full-time, long-term temporary Start date: 21 September 2026 A friendly and inclusive primary school in Lambeth is looking for a proactive General Teaching Assistant to support pupils across the school. This varied role will involve working alongside class teachers to support learning in EYFS, Key Stage 1 or Key Stage 2. The successful General Teaching Assistant will provide classroom support, lead small-group activities and help pupils who need additional encouragement to engage confidently with their learning. The school values creativity, inclusion and high expectations. Staff work collaboratively to ensure that every pupil receives the academic and pastoral support needed to make progress. Responsibilities • Supporting teachers with the delivery of engaging classroom activities • Working with individual pupils and small groups in literacy and numeracy • Preparing resources and helping to maintain an organised learning environment • Providing targeted support to pupils with additional learning needs • Encouraging independence, confidence and positive learning behaviours • Monitoring pupils during lessons, transitions, breaktimes and educational activities • Sharing relevant observations with teachers and the school’s SEND team • Supporting the school’s safeguarding and behaviour procedures Requirements • Previous experience supporting primary-aged children • A Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential • Strong spoken and written English • A patient, encouraging and adaptable approach • The ability to follow teachers’ planning and instructions • Confidence supporting pupils with different abilities and needs • A genuine commitment to children’s learning, wellbeing and inclusion • An enhanced DBS check, or willingness to complete one What the role offers • A long-term position in a supportive primary school • Experience across different year groups and areas of the curriculum • Guidance from experienced teachers and senior leaders • Opportunities to develop skills in intervention and SEND support • Well-resourced classrooms and a collaborative staff team • The potential to take on additional responsibilities as your experience grows Why work via Transparency Education?
