A supportive specialist provision in Wandsworth is seeking a resilient and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant with experience of social, emotional and mental health needs. This is a meaningful long-term role for someone who understands that behaviour is communication and can help pupils re-engage with learning.
Working alongside teachers and pastoral professionals, you will provide consistent support to individuals and small groups. The setting uses clear routines and relationship-based practice to help pupils regulate emotions, develop trust and experience success.
As an SEN Teaching Assistant – SEMH, you will:
- Provide tailored academic and emotional support
- Use agreed de-escalation and positive-behaviour strategies
- Help pupils recognise emotions and develop regulation skills
- Support personalised learning plans and reintegration into lessons
- Record progress and communicate observations to the wider team
- Maintain professional boundaries and follow safeguarding procedures
We are looking for:
- Recent experience supporting children or young people with SEMH needs
- A calm, consistent and non-judgemental approach
- Strong behaviour-management and communication skills
- Team Teach or equivalent training, desirable but not essential
- The right to work in the UK
