About the role

Transparency Education is recruiting a SEN Teaching Assistant for an autism support opportunity in Wandsworth. You will support pupils with autism (ASD) in developing access to learning, positive routines and increasing independence. Your support will respond to each pupil's needs rather than rely on one approach. You will work alongside teachers to adapt instructions, notice signs of overload and encourage pupils to communicate choices and ask for help.

Key responsibilities

  • Break learning into achievable stages using agreed prompts and resources.
  • Support communication and appropriate interaction during lessons and wider routines.
  • Apply individual strategies for sensory needs and emotional regulation.
  • Record progress and help the team identify when support can be adjusted.

Requirements

  • Relevant experience with autistic children or young people.
  • A calm, observant approach and confidence adapting communication.
  • Good teamwork, professional boundaries and a commitment to pupil independence.
  • Appropriate qualifications and training for the responsibilities of the post.
  • Higher rates reflect substantial relevant experience and/or training, such as a recognised Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent where relevant.

What the role offers

Use consistent, individualised support to help pupils become more confident participants in learning.

Why Transparency Education?

  • A dedicated consultant providing ongoing support and guidance.
  • A £150 refer-a-friend reward once your referred candidate has worked and been paid for their first 10 days.
  • Pay in line with Agency Worker Regulations (AWR), including equal pay treatment where applicable.
  • Access to a wide range of CPD through our in-house team of experienced senior leaders.
