Graduate Software Engineer in Cramlington

About the role

Join our software team and work on real customer projects from day one.

You'll help develop the applications behind our Global Data Network (GDN®), the platform that turns millions of data points from industrial sensors into insights for customers around the world, working with Type Script, Angular and Node. js on AWS.

The platform is already live and mature, delivering thousands of reports to customers worldwide, so you'll be learning on a production system that people depend on every day.

Key responsibilities

• Build interfaces that turn millions of sensor readings into charts an engineer can read in seconds.
• Write back-end services that ingest telemetry data from trains and turbines and serve it to those interfaces.
• Turn ideas from the data team into working features, from first sketch to running in production on thousands of devices.
• Add dashboards and alerts that tell a customer when a bearing or gearbox is starting to fail.
• Fix and improve features your colleagues use every day.
• Test what you build, so you know how it will perform, before it goes live.
• What you don't need

You don't need a computer science degree or years of commercial experience.

We're more interested in how you think and what you've built.

If you've written code at university, in student challenges or in your own time, that counts.

Essential

• Either a degree (or expected graduation) in a computing or engineering subject, or equivalent practical skills.
• Programming experience with Type Script, Java Script or a similar language.
• Some experience with a modern framework like Angular, React or Vue.
• A working knowledge of Git.
• Clear communication, written and spoken.

Desirable

• Experience in any of these areas would be advantageous, but none are essential:
• Cloud or AWS experience.
• Knowledge of Io T or telemetry data.
• REST APIs.
• Personal projects, open-source work or student challenges.

Location and commute

Location: Cramlington, Northumberland, at our purpose-built R&D and manufacturing facility on Northumberland Business Park, 1 Innovation Way, Cramlington NE23 7FP.

Ample on-site parking, close to the A1 and A19, about 20 minutes from Newcastle, and within easy reach of Morpeth, Whitley Bay and Blyth.

Hours and conditions

This role is based at our Cramlington office; candidates must be able to work from the office.

We are unable to offer visa sponsorship. Candidates must have the right to work in the UK.
