About the role:
Join our data team and work on real customer projects from day one. You'll learn from experienced analysts and engineers, turning data from our Industrial IoT systems into insights for customers across rail, energy, mining and heavy industry, using Python, SQL and machine learning. Our systems are live and mature, delivering thousands of reports to customers worldwide, so you'll be working with real production data from day one.
Key responsibilities:
- Support the collection, cleaning and analysis of engineering datasets.
- Analyse sensor data from trains, wind turbines and industrial assets.
- Build dashboards and reports that help customers make decisions.
- Work with engineers across the business to understand what the data is telling us.
- Build automated reports that run on their own and reach clients without anyone chasing them.
What you don't need:
You don't need years of commercial experience, and you don't need to be an expert in every tool. We're more interested in how you think than what's on your CV. If you've done projects at university, in student challenges or in your own time, that counts.
Essential
- A degree (or expected graduation) in a numerate subject, or equivalent experience.
- A strong maths or statistics foundation.
- Some experience with Python, SQL or a similar language.
- Analytical thinking and clear communication, written and spoken.
Desirable
Experience in any of these areas would be advantageous, but none are essential:
- Analysing sensor or engineering data.
- Machine learning coursework or projects.Dashboard or visualisation work.
- Student engineering challenges or competitions.
Why this role is different
Most graduate data roles start you on reports and spreadsheets. Here you'll work on data from trains, wind turbines and rotating machinery, and the analyses you build will reach clients automatically so they can act before a problem stops a train.
What we're looking for
- Someone curious, who questions the data.
- Someone who can explain a finding simply.
- Someone who takes pride in work that's accurate and clear.
- Someone who wants to learn from engineers, not just spreadsheets.
What you'll get from working at Transmission Dynamics
- Mentorship from day one from some of the best minds in the industry.
- A path from graduate to specialist, with your progress reviewed with your manager as you grow.
- The confidence of working on live, client-facing systems delivered by a team that has spent years getting them right.
Salary and benefits
Benefits:
- Statutory holiday allowance (28 days including bank holidays).
- End of year closure: employees are traditionally out of office from Christmas to New Year.
- Workplace pension scheme.
- Electric car scheme.
- Support for training and professional development.
- Regular company social, cultural and charitable events.
- Casual dress.
- Free flu jabs.
- Our own purpose-built R&D and manufacturing facility.
