About the Role
At Transmission Dynamics, we design and manufacture advanced wireless telemetry and data acquisition systems for some of the world's most demanding industrial environments.
We are looking for an Engineering Technician to help transform engineering designs into reliable, high-quality products.
Working closely with Electronics Engineers, Mechanical Engineers and our production team, you will take a hands‑on role in precision soldering, product assembly, finishing and systematic testing.
You will prepare materials from bills of materials (Bo Ms), follow standard operating procedures and produce clear test documentation to support successful project delivery.
Your work will contribute to technology used across renewable energy, mining, marine, defence, automotive and rail applications.
This is an excellent opportunity for a practical, detail-focused technician who takes pride in accuracy, enjoys solving problems and wants to develop within a collaborative engineering environment.
Occasional travel may be required to support on‑site installations and technical activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out precision soldering of instrumentation wiring and surface-mount electronic components.
- Prepare, check and organise components and materials against bills of materials (Bo Ms).
- Assemble, wire and finish products to approved drawings, work instructions and standard operating procedures.
- Complete systematic functional and quality testing, identifying any non‑conformances or build issues.
- Record results accurately and produce detailed, traceable test reports.
- Work with Electronics Engineers, Mechanical Engineers and production colleagues to resolve technical issues and meet project requirements.
- Support customer installations and other technical activities, including occasional travel where required.
- Contribute to continuous improvement, safe working practices and the efficient operation of the business.
About You
You are practical, patient and methodical, with the concentration and attention to detail needed for precision electronics work.
You enjoy turning technical information into high-quality finished products and are comfortable taking ownership of your work from preparation through to final test.
Whether your skills come from vocational training or hands‑on experience, you will be motivated to learn, contribute and maintain consistently high standards.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Practical experience soldering electronic components, including surface‑mount components and/or instrumentation wiring.
- Confident and safe use of hand tools and workshop or production equipment.
- Ability to follow Bo Ms, technical instructions and standard operating procedures accurately.
- Strong organisation, attention to detail and documentation skills.
- Good computer literacy and the ability to record and communicate test information clearly.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- A relevant college certificate, vocational qualification or degree in electronics, electrical engineering, instrumentation or a related subject.
- Experience in electronics manufacture, assembly, testing or a quality‑controlled production environment.
- Experience producing test reports or working with structured inspection and test processes.
- Experience supporting installation or technical work at customer sites.
- Ability to travel between the office and, on occasion, further afield.
- Why This Role Is Different
Here, your contribution goes well beyond repetitive assembly.
You will work closely with the engineers who design the systems, see products progress from individual components through build and test, and help ensure they are ready for deployment in demanding real‑world environments.
The variety of industries and applications means no two projects are quite the same.
You will gain broad practical exposure, develop your technical capability and see the direct impact that careful workmanship and accurate testing have on product reliability and customer success.
- What We’re Looking For
- Quality-focused and precise
- Practical, patient and methodical
- Proactive and self‑motivated
- Collaborative and clear communicators
- Comfortable taking ownership
- Curious and keen to learn
- Committed to safe, reliable work
