Due to the continuous growth of our business, Transmission Investment is looking to recruit a contract Origination Manager for a 3-month period to join the team responsible for driving Transmission Investment’s origination efforts across multiple electricity infrastructure sectors including competitively procured brownfield offshore wind transmission assets (known as “OFTOs”), competitively procured onshore transmission projects under a new regime (known as “CATOs”), and securing revenue contracts for grid stability assets (such as synchronous compensators) which underpin the investment case of those assets.

The Origination Manager will initially assist with leading TI’s late-stage development grid stability projects with a focus on securing revenue contracts such as those available via NESO’s LT29 long-term tender process. This role may also support the broader origination function of Transmission Investment and get exposure to development, delivery and operations activities relating to our assets alongside investment case and financing. Subject to personal ambition and business needs, this role may subsequently lead or support CATO projects, OFTO bid processes and other bid processes which may arise and are important to Transmission Investment’s strategic objectives.

The role will be based in our head office in the City of London or in Glasgow, with only occasional travel within the UK necessary. Transmission Investment also has a flexible working policy. The role will report to the Origination Director.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead on market analysis and research to support strategy, project origination and bidding activities.
  • Lead the development of bidding plans, programmes and budgets for delivery of timely, accurate, compliant and competitive bids.
  • Comply with formal internal governance and stage gate processes, including preparing papers and presentation materials.
  • Submitting and presenting papers to management boards for scrutiny.
  • Lead and/or support tender processes across different regimes (OFTO, CATO, OFTO Build, Grid Stability) creating and structuring consortium and or partnering arrangements where required.
  • Coordinate and lead bid processes.
  • Undertake tender clarifications, strategy development, competitive reviews, and gathering information from various team parts.
  • Gather bid inputs and lead on key transaction documentation (bidding agreements, sale and purchase agreements, partnering arrangements, interface agreements, funding arrangements, EPC and O&M contracts).
  • Provide oversight to development team members responsible for land, planning and consenting workstreams for self-developed projects such as grid stability assets.
  • Undertake competitive analysis and project feasibility using data from previous projects/processes, technical team’s solution assessment and broader market economic inputs.
  • Undertake supplier analysis and mapping with support from the procurement function.
  • Assist with creating a partnering/consortium solution to achieve maximum competitiveness and delivery certainty.
  • Ensure completion of all bid requirements within the program and timescales.
  • Take ownership of writing, drafting and creating compliant bids in line with tender guidelines, supported by the wider business.
  • Manage due diligence processes and advisors across disciplines (including legal, technical, insurance, and financial).
  • Provide oversight to the development of a project’s investment case, working with the investment team responsible for the creation of financial models and financial analysis.

Education, Work Experience & Qualifications:

  • Qualified to Degree level or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years professional experience in supporting infrastructure origination and bidding, asset management, infrastructure advisory or construction management.
  • Experience of working with data and spreadsheet analysis tools.
  • Although not essential, the following would be beneficial:
  • Experience in greenfield infrastructure project revenue tender processes that are delivered with private sector funding.
  • Experience in developing investment cases and optimising project solution development for storage and grid stability assets.
  • Experience in the late stage development of storage and grid stability assets.
  • Knowledge of the electricity transmission sector.

Skills & Attributes:

  • Well organised with excellent planning and organisational skills.
  • Core capability in either project management, technical, commercial or finance.
  • Ability and willingness to learn and grow with the role.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills.
