Position Responsibilities
- Electronics
- High-voltage and power distribution
- AC motors and drives, DC motors and drives
- Control systems: DCS, PLCs, PCs and analytical equipment
- Ability to work in team environment
- Installing wire and conduit for newly and existing equipment such as conveyors, programmable controllers, converting and corrugating machinery.
- Replacing faulty electrical components of machine such as relays, switches, motors, and position sensing devices such as proximity switch timers, scanners and photoelectric devices.
- Assist industrial mechanic as needed.
Qualifications
- Minimum high school graduate or GED equivalent
- Electrical Journeyman must have 4 years of electrical apprenticeship or helper experience, or an Associate degree in Industrial Maintenance.
- Electrical Journeyman must have one of the following:
- Industrial Technology degree
- Certificate from accredited college or trade school
- (2) years Industrial maintenance experience
In addition, qualified candidates must be willing to meet the following requirements:
- Undergo a drug screen for illicit use of drugs as a condition of employment;
- Submit to periodic drug screens as a condition of employment;
- Work any shift and/or a rotating shift schedule;
- Work overtime on a regular basis and with last minute notification as needed;
- Work holidays and/or weekends on a regular basis;
- Wear required safety equipment;
- Operate or work in industrial conditions (i.e. warm/hot, dusty/dirty, around hazardous chemicals, noise, heavy machinery or elevated working surfaces with proper safety training and safety protection).
Compensation & Benefits
The hourly rate for a Journeyman Electrician is $38.37 - $41.94. International Paper’s Newport Mill offers all employees a competitive benefits package, including health care insurance, life insurance, holiday pay and paid vacation. International Paper employees are eligible for retirement benefits including a 401k plan with a company match.
