Base Location: For this role, we require the successful applicant to be based from one of our Scottish locations and you'll be expected to spend at least 50% of your working week in the office – Perth.

Salary: £58,100 - £87,100 + car allowance + performance‑related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | Flexible First options available.

The role: This is a key role shaping how our network control teams are trained and prepared to operate a growing and increasingly complex electricity system. In Transmission Network Control, which plays a vital role in the Network Directorate, you will play a central role in developing and delivering technical training for our control centre and network operations teams, helping people build the skills, confidence and capability needed to operate the network safely, reliably and efficiently, both now and in the future.

You will:

  • Shape and deliver the technical training approach for network control teams, supporting learning from induction through to ongoing development and competency.
  • Design and introduce training programmes and role matrices, that help teams confidently operate new technologies, systems and tools as the network evolves.
  • Create simulation exercises and practical scenarios that strengthen how teams respond to incidents, emergencies and complex system events.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to align training with network developments, projects and industry standards.
  • Identify skills gaps and support targeted development plans that build capability and prepare teams for future challenges.

You have:

  • A HNC/HND/Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience in electricity transmission operations, control room environments, or a closely related technical field.
  • The ability to design and deliver technical training programmes or competency frameworks.
  • A good understanding of operational safety, system security and managing complex or high-risk environments.
  • Experience building positive, trusted relationships with a range of stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with a focus on supporting, coaching and developing others.
