Translift Freight, part of the Plasmor Group of Companies, is looking to hire a HGV Technician to carry out servicing and defects of its fleet based in Knottingley. Translift Freight operates a modern fleet of crane-off-load vehicles delivering goods to builders merchants and house builders throughout the UK. We also have a tipper fleet delivering hundreds of thousands of tonnes of aggregates per annum into the Plasmor manufacturing plants around the country.

As a motivated and enthusiastic HGV Technician / HGV Fitter / HGV Mechanic, you will form an important part of the business, ensuring our vehicles and plant equipment are serviced, MOT'd and working to the manufacturers' specifications. As a HGV Technician / HGV Fitter / HGV Mechanic, the role will involve:

  • Routine vehicle maintenance to VOSA standards
  • Preparation and presentation of vehicles and trailers for MOT inspection
  • Diagnosing of vehicles using diagnostic equipment
  • Good housekeeping and H&S requirements
  • Ensure all paperwork is completed

HGV licence is an advantage. The role requires working 9 hour shifts, Monday to Friday (6am to 3pm and 3pm to midnight) + Saturday morning 6am to midday every 2nd weekend. A degree of physical activity is intrinsic within this role, including manual handling of large machinery parts/components and other equipment, negotiating steps/ladders/vertical ladders, accessing and working within below ground maintenance pits, accessing various areas of road/rail vehicles/wagons, and the use of hand/pneumatic tools. There is also a requirement to wear items of personal protective equipment (PPE).
