We are a climate-tech startup established in 2021. We provide electricity grid modelling software to accelerate energy planning in emerging markets and developing economies. Today’s tools are costly, closed, and hard to use, with modelling studies taking months or years when they should take weeks or days. We designed Scenario Builder to meet this challenge, so energy planners and investors can make better decisions, faster.

At TransitionZero, we understand that diversity is an essential component of a successful team, whether that be diverse ways of thinking, personal or professional backgrounds, or skills. We aim to be the most talented non-profit in our vertical through our culture of ownership and adaptability.

We are looking for an experienced product leader to implement the strategic direction and execution of our product roadmap for Scenario Builder, our electricity grid modelling platform. Scenario Builder is an in-browser platform that currently provides capacity expansion and dispatch modelling through an accessible no-code interface. The vision of Scenario Builder is to expand into power flow modelling to create a fully integrated grid modelling platform with the features and functionality needed for users to develop bankable scenarios that enable energy investment decisions.

Your key points of collaboration are with (i) the CEO to refine the product vision (ii) the CTO to execute the product vision and (iii) the COO to ensure our product roadmap is aligned with business goals.

You will be responsible for management of our product managers and the newly formed engagement team. Our product managers are integrated into the technology team and act as the translator between users, business goals, and technical feasibility to define what gets built and why. Our Engagement Team, based in-market (currently Southeast Asia), drives the adoption and success of Scenario Builder by providing onboarding and education services that minimise users’ time to insight. The team operates on a partnership model, identifying cornerstone users in each market who support distribution and drive adoption.

This hybrid role is based out of our London office near Waterloo Station and reports to the CEO.

Responsibilities
  • Product vision & strategy: Collaborate with senior leadership to refine the product vision, strategy, and roadmap in alignment with the company’s business goals. Direct the development of infrastructure and features required for bankable scenarios that drive informed policy and investment decisions. Champion a user-centric approach to product development, conducting market research, competitor analysis, and gathering user feedback to identify opportunities for product enhancements and innovation. Collaborate with senior leadership on strategic initiatives to explore new market opportunities, expand product offerings and drive adoption.
  • Product sustainability & scale: Take ownership of the product's long-term architecture, defining strategy for user tiers, value capture, and funding streams required for organisational sustainability and scale. Define key success metrics and performance indicators to measure the effectiveness of product initiatives and ensure progress towards high-level annual goals.
  • Product & user marketing: Overseeing and taking responsibility for the ongoing marketing strategy for Scenario Builder. Ensuring Scenario Builder is marketed thoughtfully, ambitiously targeting different user segments with an eye on the product’s future development. Providing leadership and direction to the product management team to determine appropriate marketing tactics for reaching our audience, and ensuring campaigns are executed effectively.
  • Product execution & governance: Own the product development process to ensure we ship early and often, build the right thing, delight our users, and deliver on our mission. Drive agile methodologies and best practices to optimise product development processes and increase efficiency. Serve as an internal champion for the company's objective framework, translating annual key results into measurable quarterly objectives that drive cross-functional focus.
  • Team leadership & growth: Lead the Product Management Team, providing guidance and support in prioritising and executing product initiatives. Lead the Engagement Team, providing guidance on user enablement, training and retention (with a particular focus on emerging markets and developing economies). Collaborate with the Head of Content to ensure the new Engagement and Insight Teams are embedded successfully into cross-functional ways of working. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the Product Management and Engagement Teams.
  • Stakeholder & organisational alignment: Collaborate with stakeholders across the organisation to gather requirements, prioritise feature requests, and address feedback. Serve as a primary point of contact for senior leadership providing regular updates on product initiatives, milestones, and performance metrics.
Skills & Experience
  • Background in, or significant exposure to, commercial electricity grid modelling software.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in product management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role overseeing product teams.
  • Proven track record of launching and leading commercially successful software products.
  • Strong understanding of software development methodologies, including agile/scrum, and experience working with cross-functional teams of engineers, UX and UI designers.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate business objectives into actionable product strategies and roadmaps.
  • Proven ability to define and implement product features (e.g., access control, usage metering) required to support complex funding and governance structures and reporting requirements.
