About Us
We are a climate-tech startup established in 2021. We provide electricity grid modelling software to accelerate energy planning in emerging markets and developing economies. Today's tools are costly, closed, and hard to use, with modelling studies taking months or years when they should take weeks or days. We designed Scenario Builder to meet this challenge, so energy planners and investors can make better decisions, faster.
Our funding currently comes from a range of US and EU foundations, including the Quadrature Climate Foundation, Google.org, the Sequoia Climate Foundation, Bloomberg Philanthropies, and the European Climate Foundation.
At TransitionZero, we understand that diversity is an essential component of a successful team, whether that be diverse ways of thinking, personal or professional backgrounds, or skills. We aim to be the most talented non-profit in our vertical through our culture of ownership and adaptability.
About The Role
The purpose of this role is to keep our communications and marketing engine running at full speed. You'll sit at the intersection of marketing, storytelling, and design to build TransitionZero's brand and drive adoption of Scenario Builder. To do this you'll own the content calendar, social channels, website updates, and day-to-day asset creation while partnering closely with insight analysts, modellers, engagement leads, and the product team.
While experience in the energy transition or climate space is a plus, we also welcome candidates with backgrounds in finance/business journalism, or data-driven storytelling. This is a hybrid role, based out of our London office, reporting to the Head of Content.
Responsibilities
- Content creation & editing: Draft, edit, and publish explainers, blogs, newsletters and thoughtâleadership articles. Translate complex data, modelling outputs, and research insights into accessible, rigorous content for our target audience. Produce visual assets including infographics, social carousels, short video clips, and multimedia explainers.
- Web & social management: Manage updates to the website (CMS) and optimise content for SEO & accessibility. Produce and schedule content across social channels. Track communications analytics and report impact.
- Digital & creative production: Create assets using Canva. Edit shortâform video content for social platforms. Support production of data visualisations with market experts & designers.
- Media & content coordination: Draft press materials and support press outreach to deliver commsârelated grant objectives. Maintain and execute a coordinated content calendar. Identify opportunities for proactive commentary & brand visibility.
- Crossâteam collaboration: Work closely with market experts, modellers, product teams, and partners to generate compelling content. Support webinars, and product messaging. Ensure adherence to tone, brand, accessibility, and editorial standards.
About You
You are a highly proactive, highâagency individual with a deep commitment to climate action and the energy transition. You are passionate about using compelling communication to accelerate change and drive the mission of a dataâfocused nonâprofit to win in its vertical.
We value ownership, accountability, and a culture of feedback. As such, you are selfâaware, detailâoriented, and bring a relentless problemâsolving attitude to your comms work. You thrive in crossâfunctional environments, enjoying the collaboration required to work with modellers, market experts, and product teams to find and craft compelling stories.
A high level of adaptability, curiosity, and a willingness to experiment is essential as you manage multiple workstreams and seek innovative ways to translate complex data into engaging publicâfacing content.
Skills & Experience
- Content expertise: Proven ability to translate complex concepts into engaging, accurate content.
- Strong writer and editor: Write with clarity, precision, and creativity, and have an editor's eye for structure, grammar, and detail.
