Role Description
The Treasurer is a full‑time, on‑site role based in Edinburgh, responsible for managing the financial affairs of Transition Edinburgh South.
Day‑to‑day tasks include maintaining accurate financial records, overseeing budgets, tracking income and expenditure, and preparing regular financial reports for the board and relevant stakeholders.
The Treasurer will manage banking activities, process payments and reimbursements, and ensure appropriate financial controls are in place.
The role also involves supporting funding applications, monitoring grant conditions, assisting with annual accounts and audits, and ensuring compliance with relevant financial and charitable regulations.
The Treasurer will work closely with other team members to align financial planning with project priorities and the overall mission of TES.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in bookkeeping, budgeting, and financial reporting, with the ability to maintain accurate and transparent records.
- Experience with accounting software, spreadsheets, and general financial administration in a nonprofit, community group, or similar setting.
- Knowledge of charity or community organization financial regulations, including compliance, governance, and audit processes.
- Excellent organizational and time‑management skills, with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain financial information to non‑specialists.
- Collaborative mindset, with the ability to work effectively with volunteers, community members, and partner organizations.
- Commitment to sustainability, climate action, and community‑led initiatives, with alignment to TES values and goals.
- Relevant qualification in finance, accounting, business, or a related field, or equivalent experience in a similar Treasurer or finance role.
