The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Manager to join our research group. The successful candidate will be an integral part of our research discovery team. They will lead the execution of all data management activities, ensuring focus on data integrity, reliability in accordance with standard procedures, industry guidelines and best practices. They will manage, and be accountable for, our scientific data infrastructure (Dotmatics), with a particular focus on ADMET and DMPK data. This role offers the opportunity to also input into the company’s overall ADME/PK strategy. The successful candidate will be independent, a self-starter and have strong interpersonal skills. They will have a successful track‑record and enjoy working in a truly multi‑disciplinary environment. This position will interact closely with Transition Bio colleagues across cell biology, biophysics, biochemistry, medicinal chemistry, as well as external consultants and CROs.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with scientists at all levels of discovery to ensure provision and support for chemical, pharmacological, biophysical and ADMET/DMPK data information systems.
- Implement, customise, maintain, curate, and develop databases, software solutions and supporting technologies from a range of vendors.
- Exceptionally proficient in using the Dotmatics platform and integrating others (e.g. Benchling) to coordinate data curation, annotation, and assimilation.
- Be the point‑person internally for troubleshooting and training for data management activities.
- Manage and scrutinise datasets received from CROs and external providers, to ensure data quality and integrity is to a high standard.
- Provide solutions to complex scientific data and informatics requirements, from assay requests to raw data capture, curation, analysis, retrieval, reporting and visualisation.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve data processing through vendor evaluation and selection, analysis of our requirements, legacy data management and migration, integrations, customisation and testing.
- Depending on level of proficiency and motivation, there may be a potential opportunity to impact our overall ADME/DMPK strategy and applications to project cascades.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- B.Sc. or M.Sc. in a drug discovery‑relevant discipline (e.g. chemistry, pharmacology, biochemistry, etc.) and significant experience in a Biotech or Pharma organisation.
- Proficient in running a research informatics system (e.g. Dotmatics platform), inventory, assay data analyses and ingestion of external data from multiple sources.
- Experience with use of electronic laboratory notebook (ELN) systems and developing standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Strong understanding of data structure and quality control.
- Prior experience with data used in drug discovery desirable, with an emphasis on ADMET/DMPK properties.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Outstanding organisational skills.
- Ability to build good working relationships with colleagues across many disciplines with diverse professional backgrounds, as well as international CROs.
- Experience with computing programming could be advantageous.
