UKRI Future Leaders Fellow in Transport and AI
Overview
We are a fast-growing, VC-backed deep-tech university spin-out on a mission to redefine transport data intelligence through cutting-edge agentic AI.
With the world’s first validated technology in this space, strong academic backing to deepen our technological edge, and early traction with leading city authorities, we’re now hiring a founding commercial director to accelerate our growth in the transport sector.
We aim to become the go-to agentic AI solution for the global transport industry — and to maintain our lead with this category-defining technology. In this high-impact role, you will take full ownership of our go-to-market strategy, lead a core business function, and shape the commercial team as we scale.
You will define how our agentic AI shapes the future of the transport industry — establishing it as the trusted tool for cities, operators, and decision-makers across the sector. You’ll work alongside a founding team with deep technical and sectoral expertise, and your success will directly shape our growth, investment trajectory, and long-term impact.
Your Mission
- Lead commercial development across the transport sector — including city councils, transport consultancies, and infrastructure providers.
- Own the full sales cycle: prospecting, pitching, closing, and expanding key accounts.
- Build the GTM playbook, refine our value proposition, and establish scalable sales processes.
- Ensure customer success and solution delivery, supporting pilot rollouts and building strong, long-term client relationships.
- Act as the commercial face of the company at industry events and with strategic partners.
- Shape and grow the future commercial team as the business scales.
What You Bring
- Proven track record in B2B sales and business development, ideally in transport, infrastructure, or public-sector tech.
- Experience with public-sector procurement, including successful bid and tender writing, navigating frameworks, engaging multiple stakeholders, and leveraging an established network.
- Strong ability in consultative selling — you know how to turn client pain points into tailored, high-value solutions.
- Comfortable working in early-stage environments — you can operate independently, adapt quickly, and drive outcomes with limited structure.
- Strategic mindset, entrepreneurial spirit, and excellent communication skills.
What We Offer
- Competitive salary, commensurate with experience and success, uncapped commission
- Equity Options: 0.5%-2%, significant further upside for exceptional performance
- Trajectory: Clear path to grow into Commercial Director / CCO as the company scales
- Others: Flexible working hours and work-from-home options, startup autonomy
- We are based in LUinc. – Loughborough University’s business incubator
