About the Role
We are looking for an experienced
Professional Services Technical Manager to lead the technical delivery, governance and development of our Professional Services team.
Reporting to the Head of Projects, you will provide technical leadership across a wide range of customer projects, ensuring solutions are secure, supportable, commercially viable and delivered to a consistently high standard.
You will oversee technical assurance from presales through to project completion and service transition, while supporting and developing a team of highly skilled consultants and engineers.
This is a hands-on leadership role, combining people management, technical governance and customer engagement, with an expectation to remain involved in technical delivery activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and governance across Professional Services projects and presales activities.
- Review and assure solution designs, implementation approaches and technical standards.
- Support the successful delivery of complex infrastructure, Microsoft 365, Azure, networking and security projects.
- Lead, mentor and develop a team of technical specialists and project engineers.
- Manage technical escalations, project risks and delivery challenges.
- Monitor team utilisation, capacity planning and resource allocation.
- Ensure projects are fully documented and successfully transitioned into support.
- Build strong relationships with customers and act as a senior technical contact for strategic engagements.
- Drive continual improvement across delivery processes, standards and technical capabilities.
- Work collaboratively with Sales, Project Management, Service Desk and Operational teams to deliver successful customer outcomes.
About You
We are looking for someone who can demonstrate
- Significant experience in a senior technical leadership, solution architecture, project delivery or consultancy role within an MSP, IT services or Professional Services environment.
- Experience leading, coaching and developing technical teams.
- Strong technical knowledge across Microsoft 365, Azure, infrastructure, networking, security and modern managed services technologies.
- Experience providing technical assurance and governance across multiple concurrent projects.
- The ability to manage complex technical escalations, risks and stakeholder relationships.
- Strong commercial awareness, including reviewing project scope, estimates and delivery requirements.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage confidently with customers, colleagues and senior stakeholders.
- A proactive, organised and solutions-focused approach.
Desirable
- Experience working within the education sector or supporting schools.
- Microsoft, Azure, networking, cloud or security certifications.
- Project management qualifications such as PRINCE2, Agile or APM.
- Experience contributing to tenders, service transitions or complex presales opportunities.
- Experience developing standardised services, technical governance frameworks or delivery methodologies.
