Senior MIS Consultant
School ICT is one of the largest independent providers of MIS support in the country.
We currently support over 1,500 schools nationwide.
Due to continued growth, we are recruiting a Senior MIS Consultant with strong experience of Arbor and Bromcom, and experience of SIMS, to join our team.
This role is hybrid home /office based, with regular travel to our head office in Leeds.
Are you an Arbor and Bromcom specialist, with strong experience in either or both platforms, and experience of SIMS?
Are you an experienced school-based MIS user, or working in a similar role, and ready for a new challenge?
As a Senior MIS Consultant, you will provide remote MIS support to schools, support clear communication between schools and School ICT, and keep up to date with the latest products, services, and developments.
You will also deliver training and consultancy, support schools moving MIS platforms, and maintain key guidance documentation.
In addition, you will work with schools and trusts to maximise the value of their MIS, helping them improve processes, strengthen data quality, increase efficiency, and align system use to their operational and strategic priorities.
The ideal candidate will be a motivated and self-directed individual with excellent people skills, strong experience of Arbor and Bromcom, and experience of SIMS.
You will be confident building relationships with school and trust leaders, understanding their priorities, and translating these into practical MIS solution.
You will be comfortable working independently and as part of a team, well organised, and keen to keep learning.
The successful candidate will work on a hybrid home /office basis , with regular travel to our Leeds offices.
Responsibilities
- Provide MIS support for secondary and primary schools
- Provide first line telephone, remote and onsite support across the full range of supported MIS software modules to staff within schools, adhering to priorities for both secondary and primary schools
- Log all queries and requests into the Customer helpdesk system to ensure appropriate tracking and reporting
- Understand and adhere to MIS KPIs
- Keep schools regularly informed of progress if a case has been logged or data sent to a software supplier
- Ensure emails are monitored and responded to every day
- Test and implement new MIS products and upgrades
- Support schools transitioning to new MIS Platforms
- Support the configuration and update of MIS systems in schools, working with colleagues across the company as required
- Work in partnership with school and trust leaders, helping them maximise the capabilities of their MIS to improve efficiency, strengthen data-informed decision-making and support strategic improvement priorities.
- Keep abreast of new developments in software and keeping schools informed
- Impart your specialist knowledge to the MIS Support team through formal and informal training
- Play a full role in the co-ordination, implementation, production and delivery of MIS training programmes, using a variety of techniques, including formal training delivery, webinars, on-site training and workshop sessions
- Advise customers on the appropriate training and the relevant medium of delivery
- Advise and guide schools on school improvements/processes whilst promoting effective use of the school's MIS systems.
- Enable schools to complete their Df E statutory requirements by holding webinars and delivering training sessions.
- Develop and maintain high quality support documentation
- You will report to the Head of Services and Team Leaders.
Skills/Abilities
Essential
- A professional, cheerful and clear telephone manner with a focus on excellent customer service skills
- Strong experience of Arbor and Bromcom
- Excellent knowledge of all areas of one or more of the MIS modules, including Attendance, Reporting, Assessments, Statutory Returns, End of Year and SEN
- Be familiar with the statutory data returns required for local and national government bodies.
- Accomplished user of Microsoft Office and associated software packages
- Excellent problem-solving skills, being able to think outside the box to find resolutions.
- Able to interpret complex documentation and communicate findings verbally and in written documents.
- Able to deliver training and consultancy to a high standard.
- Good planning and organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure, multi-task, and still meet deadlines.
- Comfortable working either in a team or independently
- A self-learner with excellent organisation skills
- Have an eye for detail.
Desirable
- Experience of working on a busy and demanding helpdesk
- Experience of SIMS
- Knowledge of Exams, Assessment and reports, School Workforce Census, Cover, Pupil Census, Post 16, Timetabling, Behaviour Management, Clubs & Trips and Attendance.

- We offer a competitive salary of £29,000 - £36,000 depending on experience.
