Job overview

RWT Radiology recognise the value of diversifying entry routes into Diagnostic Radiography & we are recruiting to our established & celebrated Diagnostic Radiography Apprenticeship again this year.

Applicants will commit to undertaking all formal & informal study required to fulfil the needs of the post and the learning provider.

Upon successful completion, you will gain a BSc (Hons) Diagnostic Radiography Degree & will be eligible to apply for registration with the HCPC.

Successful applicants will work 37.5h per week with 20% off the job time. Hours of work in year 1 will be core service hours Mon to Fri. In years 2 & 3 applicants will undertake the full range of shifts worked within Radiology to include weekends, nights & bank holidays.

Applicants must commit to cross site working at our Cannock Chase Site, New Cross Site & with private partners in the West Midlands.

At least six GCSEs (or equivalent) grade C or above (grade 4 or above in the reformed GCSEs (England) including: Mathematics, English Language, Combined or Single Science subjects, plus:

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be employed by The Royal Wolverhampton Hospital NHS Trust as an Apprentice Radiographer and will work within the Imaging department.

The post holder will work as part of the plain imaging workforce and will rotate through all specialty modalities as part of their course content and learning structure.

You will be an integral part of our team and will work alongside qualified radiographers, assistant practitioners, students and other multidisciplinary team members to provide care and high quality imaging to patients accessing Radiology services.

We have an apprenticeship team to offer you support with university applications, pastoral care and mentoring. In the Radiology department, you will be supported by our Lead Educators and Practice Education Facilitators ensuring your journey is positive and rewarding

You must be at least 18 years old at the start of your application and demonstrate recent in person work experience in a radiology department.

In order to meet university start date deadlines, it is essential that successful candidates are able to start with the Trust immediately

Qualifications

  • GCSE grade C or equivalent in Maths and English
  • Please describe your additional qualifications in line with Keele university\’s entry requirements e.g., A Levels, previous undergraduate degree etc.

Commitment

  • Applicant can demonstrate a commitment to self directed study
  • You must be 18 years of age or older to apply for this course. Please confirm that you are over 18
  • Have you been a resident in the UK for the previous 3 years (this meets the eligibility requirement)

Experience

  • Applicant has had in person work experience in a Radiology Department
