This is a great time to join The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as a Specialist Dietitian. We are currently in the process of redeveloping the hospital to provide a new state-of-the-art hospital for the residents of Hillingdon, and beyond, which supports the very best in delivery of healthcare and will be fit for our future. We are looking for a confident and motivated Dietitian to join our Dietetic and Speech Therapy Team at The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Our friendly team consists of 14 Dietitians, 8 Speech & Language Therapists, a Dietetic support worker and administrator.

Main duties of the job

Are you an experienced dietitian with an interest in maternity? We are looking for a dietitian with a real passion to drive forward and promote excellence within the maternity department as part of the diabetes specialist multi-disciplinary team. This is a brand-new post because of external funding and an exciting opportunity to develop the Dietetic service in this area. You will be responsible for providing clinical leadership within the team to improve pregnancy outcomes and support a positive patient experience. You will work in partnership with other professionals, pregnant people and their families. You will champion patient involvement in the management of their condition through their diet, and you will demonstrate a patient centred approach by providing sensitive and complex information in a compassionate manner.

The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute Hospital in the London Borough of Hillingdon and offers a wide range of services including accident and emergency, inpatient care, day surgery, outpatient clinics and maternity services. The Trust’s services at Mount Vernon Hospital include routine day surgery, delivered at a modern treatment centre, a minor injuries unit and outpatient clinics. The safety and well-being of our patients and of our staff is paramount and we are making urgent improvements to address this – particularly in infection prevention and control. We are making progress and going forward by working in partnership with local GPs, charities, community services, academic partners, our local authority, neighbouring hospitals and the wider North West London Integrated care system, and ensuring that we listen and work in partnership with our local population. We are absolutely focused on ensuring that our hospitals provide high quality, safe and compassionate care, while driving forward the building of the new Hillingdon Hospital.

Person specification

  • Degree or equivalent or post graduate qualification in Nutrition and Dietetics
  • Evidence of current HCPC registration (State Registered Dietitian)
  • Experience and knowledge specific to care of women and birthing with diabetes
  • Experience and knowledge in diabetes and nutrition support
  • Experience of working in a specialist dietetic service
  • Evidence of post graduate training or equivalent in British Dietetic Association (BDA) postgraduate courses equivalent to Masters level
  • Member of the British Dietetic Association or covered by professional indemnity insurance.
  • Member of BDA Specialist Interest Group
