There is an exciting opportunity to join the St Luke's Day Case Unit Team! The unit is located at St Luke's Hospital and whilst it is undergoing environmental works we are looking to recruit to our team. Successful candidates will be located at Bradford Royal Infirmary site till the Day Case unit is open, this will enable you to gain all the required skills for your role. We are a supportive employer and love to see our staff flourish and improve in their career ambitions. You will have a mentor in your role and be given many opportunities to undertake relevant training, starting with a two week boot camp. Part of the role requires you to undertake a Care Certificate program. Experience in Surgery and Theatres is not essential as we will provide you with all the necessary skills. The unit is open from 7am till 8pm, and the successful candidate will work a combination of early and late shifts.

Main duties of the job:

  • To lift, carry, handle and transport goods and any other items of medical equipment throughout the hospital.
  • To move and transport patients, including their belongings, on beds, trolleys and chairs to and from Theatres and transfer patients, using appropriate lifting and handling techniques.
  • Transferring items to and from the theatres including drugs, specimens and equipment and beds.
  • To clean wheelchairs and trolleys between patient moves and thoroughly clean designated trolleys and wheelchairs as per cleaning schedules.
  • To connect and disconnect medical gas cylinders and complete appropriate documentation.
  • Maintaining stock levels.
  • Attend regular team meetings as required.
  • Maintain a clean & safe working environment for patients and staff.
  • Undertake all such reasonable other duties as may be required as part of the role.

Person specification:

Experience:

  • Experience of working in a customer service setting.
  • Experience & ability to position patients.
  • Working in a Hospital/Care Home/Healthcare Environment.
  • Experience of record keeping.

Skills:

  • Ability to follow instructions (verbal and written).
  • Ability to work within agreed procedures and deadlines and to use initiative appropriately to deal with unexpected situations.

Knowledge:

  • Understanding of Information Governance and Confidentiality.
  • Understand the importance of record keeping.

Qualifications:

  • Willingness to undertake any training or development relevant to the role.
  • Entry level 2 or above in literacy & numeracy or a willingness to achieve within a 6-12 month period.
  • NVQ level 2 in Health/Care OR Care Certificate issued by an Employer.
  • Moving and handling training.
  • Infection control training.
  • Resuscitation training.
