East and North Hertfordshire Teaching NHS Trust is recruiting a Specialist Renal Dietitian for an 11 month fixed term contract ending 29 Dec 2026.
The role is based at Lister Hospital Stevenage and covers dialysis units across Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and West Essex. Working within a multidisciplinary team including medical, AHP, social work and psychotherapy teams, the post holder will provide a clinical nutrition & dietetic service to adults with acute and chronic kidney disease.
Main duties:
- Provide autonomous clinical nutrition service to adults presenting with acute and chronic kidney disease.
- Manage undernutrition, including enteral and parenteral nutrition.
- Review, develop and implement the service, including evidence based nutrition resources.
- Supervise students and junior staff and conduct practice supervision.
- Engage in audit, research and clinical governance activities.
- Flexible working hours; part-time or job share considered.
Qualifications and training:
- Degree or post graduate qualification in nutrition & dietetics.
- Current HCPC registered dietitian.
- Completion of postgraduate training in adult renal dietetics (stage 4 & 5) and relevant enteral/parenteral nutrition courses.
- Completion of clinical supervisory skills/mentoring course.
Experience:
- Broad post‑qualification clinical experience with adults requiring nutritional support.
- Experience in acute and chronic renal disease stage 4 & 5 and renal replacement therapy.
- Audit or research experience linked to practice improvement.
- Training and development of junior staff, students and multidisciplinary teams.
Skills:
- Excellent time management, organisational and prioritisation skills.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written, and effective patient interaction.
- Clinical leadership and ability to motivate and lead multidisciplinary teams.
- IT competence – spreadsheets, databases, PowerPoint.
Knowledge:
- Comprehensive knowledge of NHS and evolving healthcare agenda.
- Knowledge of acute and chronic kidney disease, post‑transplant and a range of treatment modalities.
- Clinical governance, risk management and patient safety understanding.
