Start your career in Cardiac Physiology with a department known for its outstanding training and supportive environment. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and caring individual to join our Cardiology team as a Trainee Cardiac Physiologist. Whether you’re a recent A-level graduate with a passion for science or a university graduate looking for a hands‑on, patient‑facing healthcare role, this could be the perfect path for you.

You’ll be employed full‑time within the department for three years, gaining practical experience in a wide range of cardiac diagnostic tests while working through structured in‑house competencies. Alongside this, you’ll study for a BSc (Hons) in Healthcare Science (Cardiac Physiology) at Sheffield Hallam University through a degree apprenticeship – meaning no tuition fees for you.

We are an award‑winning NHS Foundation Trust working alongside health and social care colleagues across the county to provide acute and community healthcare services to more than 420,000 people across Mansfield, Ashfield, Newark and Sherwood, and parts of Derbyshire and Lincolnshire.

Knowledge Requirements:

  • Basic understanding of scientific principles.

Experience of the Cardiovascular department.

Qualifications:

  • 5 GCSEs at grade C or grade 4 including Maths, English language or literature and one science or equivalent.
  • 112 UCAS points from at least 2 A levels including at least 32 from Biology or equivalent BTEC national qualifications including suitable Biology or 96 UCAS points from at least 3 A levels including at least 32 from Biology or equivalent. We do not accept General Studies.
  • Undertake and successfully complete the Healthcare Science Level 6 Degree apprenticeship.
  • SCST Certificate / diploma.
  • BLS / ILS.

Experience:

  • Experience / observation of Cardiology or Vascular procedures.
  • Working within the NHS environment.
  • Dealing with the public.
  • Experience of the care sector.

Contractual Requirements:

  • 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday.
  • Work across different Sites within the trust.
  • Attending block weeks of Degree.
