Job overview

We are seeking a dedicated and motivated Receptionist to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals with experience in reception. The role will be based across at Charles Clifford Dental Hospital.

  • Recording various details on the Connect computerised system and database
  • Ensuring patients notes, investigations
  • Maintaining waiting list information, maintaining overdue reviews
  • Reaccept patients at the reception desk
  • Arranging follow up as required

This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term contract basis for a period of a maximum of twelve months due to maternity leave of the substantive post holder. The fixed term contract status of the post holder will be reviewed in accordance with the Trust\’s legal obligations regarding fixed term contracts and statutory maternity provisions.

Please also note any secondment must first be agreed with your current line manager.

Main duties of the job

Good organisational and communication skills are required to ensure a smooth and efficient service .

Computer and keyboard skills are essential to enable the post holder to utilise information on the Database, Patient Administrative System (PAS) and Results Reporting System

Assisting departmental secretary and the Senior Clerk within the department

Person specification

Education and Qualifications

  • GCSE at Grade C/4 in English and Maths (or equivalent qualifications) or equivalent experience
  • NVQ Level II in Business Administration / Customer Service / IT

Experience

  • Experience of working within an office environment
  • Experience of working in a public facing role.
  • Relevant experience within the NHS

Further Training

  • Knowledge of / experience of using information and/or customer service systems
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages including Outlook, Excel and Word.
  • Previous experience Infoflex / 59R Software
  • Previous experience of PAS / Infoflex / SystmOne (area specific software)

Skills and Knowledge

  • Understanding of data protection issues and the ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Excellent communication skills, with ability to deal with staff at all levels.
  • Displays use of initiative with effective organisational skill
  • Ability to prioritise and work to strict/conflicting deadlines
  • On-going commitment to personal development
