Job overview

An exciting opportunity is available for a highly motivated, responsible, and caring individual to join the Walton Centre Radiology Service.

As a Radiographic Assistant you will work alongside qualified Radiographers providing a diagnostic imaging service to the Trust.

As a Radiographic assistant you will be a valued team member supporting the delivery of services within the Neuro Radiology Team.

You will have good data management, administrative, communication and interpersonal skills along with previous experience of working within a health or social care setting.

You will receive training, support, supervision, and appraisals.

Main duties of the job

1. Assist the radiographers and radiologists with patients.

2. To participate in working extended hours.

3. To take responsibility for the health, safety, welfare and security of the patients, staff and visitors within the Neuroradiology department. To comply with MR safety procedures. To assist patients filling in MR safety questionnaires.

4. To go through a CT safety questionnaire with patients to assess their suitability for an intravenous contrast medium injection according to departmental guidelines, checking for any relevant contraindications, then checking any queries with a radiologist.

5. To ensure appropriate infection control measures are utilised at all times.

6. Assess patients after injection of contrast media and inform a radiologist/ radiographer if they have any side effects.

Person specification

Qualifications

  • Good standard of education
  • ECDL.
  • NVQ level 3 in Clinical Imaging Support Workers, or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety at Work Act, Risk Management procedures and IR(ME)R 2000 & IRR 1999.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Relevant experience in a patient centred or customer service environment.
  • Experience of dealing with the public in difficult/emotional circumstances.
  • NHS Experience
