We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and well motivated individual(s) to join our training programme for Pre-registration Trainee Pharmacy Technicians. Successful completion of a fixed two year training programme and studying towards a BTEC Level 3 Diploma in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians, will provide the entry criteria for registration as a registered pharmacy technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council.

Main duties of the job:

  • Dispensing activities for inpatients and outpatients using the automation system
  • Distribution stock control
  • Medicine management at ward level
  • Ordering and picking medication
  • Working on reception, receiving and processing prescriptions
  • Competency trained to complete drug histories
  • Rotation to Halton hospital

Introduction will be given to specialist areas for example - Medicine administration, Chemotherapy, ITU, EPMA, A&E. A college course will support the knowledge-based learning for the qualification.

Applicants must possess a minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade A - C or grade 4-9 in English, Mathematics, Chemistry or dual science, plus one other science subject (or equivalent). If you have already obtained certificates for these qualifications, these certificates will need to be brought to interview.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities:

This is a training post which offers the opportunity to gain experience in the various tasks involved in the day to day operations in a pharmacy department, whilst studying towards a BTEC Level 3 Diploma in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians, ultimately gaining a recognised qualification to register as a qualified pharmacy technician. The course involves academic and practical training and the commitment of up to 10 hours per week of your own time for private study.

Person specification:

  • GCSE grade A-C or 4-9 in Maths, English, Chemistry and one other science subject
  • Pharmacy experience
