An opportunity has arisen for a Consultant General Radiologist with subspeciality interest in Radionuclide Imaging or Consultant in Nuclear Medicine and Radiology (dual trained) to join the existing team including a NM physician and Consultant Radionuclide Radiologist to provide specialist diagnostic NM and general radiology services.
Main duties of the job:
- The post is to share responsibility for provision of a comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic Nuclear Medicine service with the existing NM Consultant Radiologist and Physician.
- The post holder will provide supervision of scans in the NM department to maintain quality, and to report all imaging and non-imaging examinations.
- The post holder should have experience in PET CT reporting using both FDG and non-FDG tracers including PSMA, Choline and Amyloid.
- Every effort will be made to accommodate the subspecialty interests of the successful applicant.
- An interest in research is desirable as the department seeks to develop a PET CT research portfolio.
- The post-holder will be provided with a PC and PACS workstation, with the option to locate one of these off-site to facilitate home working.
- The post holder will be expected to share the on–call commitment equally with the existing consultants.
- There is also an expectation that successful candidates will participate in 7-day-working, in a pattern which supports the provision of general inpatient services across 7 days.
- The Directorate would support any research interests of the Consultant in conjunction with the Trust lead for R & D.
- All consultants are expected to actively participate in the department’s audit and clinical governance program.
Person specification:
- Full GMC registration.
- Fellowship Royal College of Radiologists (or equivalent).
- CCT in radiology and entry on Specialist Register in radiology (or expected within 6 months of interview).
- MD, PhD or other postgraduate degree.
- PGDip/MSc in Nuclear Medicine.
- Entry on Specialist Register in Nuclear Medicine.
Particular skills and experience:
- Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for gaining UK CCT in clinical radiology.
- At least 12 months training in radionuclide imaging.
- Broad skills in general and cross-sectional imaging including acute imaging services.
- Ability to offer expert clinical opinion on full range of general radiology studies.
- Experience in adult and paediatric NM imaging.
- Ability to supervise radiology STRs across a broad range of NM and general radiological imaging.
- Able to participate in general radiology on-call rota.
- Experience in non-FDG PET CT.
- Hold or be eligible to hold an ARSAC license for non-FDG PET tracers.
- Further sub-specialist/fellowship training in diagnostic NM and PET CT.
- Experience and ability to deliver NM therapies, e.g. Radium, Thyroid, DOTATATE, PSMA, SIRT.
- Ability to report trial imaging to RECIST 1.1 or willingness to learn.
Research & clinical audit:
- Ability to apply evidence-based approach to management of clinical problems.
- Evidence of completed audit projects.
- Completion of clinical research.
- Publications in peer reviewed journals.
- Ability to undertake basic science research.
- Ability to lead research team.
- Previous success in grant applications.
Teaching:
- Ability to teach clinical and practical skills.
- Experience of teaching clinical skills to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
- Ability to supervise postgraduate research.
Communication & interpersonal skills:
