Positions available: Permanent & Rotation (x2 placements over 2 years). Permanent posts are subject to availability and not guaranteed. This is a cross-site application. All Evelina nurses are expected to be able to work at Evelina and RBH sites unless there are exceptional circumstances that will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Successful candidates must be able to start within 6 months of course completion (estimated to be 2nd of March 2027).

Main duties of the job:

  • Responsible for assessment of care needs of patients, planning programmes of care, implementation and evaluation of these programmes without direct supervision.
  • Management responsibility for being in-charge of the ward and supervising junior members of staff.
  • Key member in relation to the development of practice on the ward.
  • Work independently/autonomously and at times without direct supervision, accountable for own professional actions.
  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of service users, promoting dignity and human rights through person-centred care principles.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities:

  • Responsible for carrying out clinical practice within designated clinical areas, ensuring high quality, current evidence-based nursing assessment, care planning, implementation, interventions and evaluations for patients from admission through to discharge.
  • Act as advocate for patients within the area, ensuring a patient-oriented approach to the delivery of care.
  • Ensure that patients receive high-quality clinical care and a good patient experience, having regard for their customs, religious beliefs and doctrines.
  • Recognise and avoid situations that may be detrimental to the health and wellbeing of individuals.
  • Advise on the promotion of health and the prevention of illness.
  • Carry out nursing procedures and treatments, maintaining the highest possible standards.
  • Work alongside the multi-disciplinary team to ascertain treatments and advise on nursing priorities.
  • Undertake prescribed physical observations and report exceptions appropriately.
  • Responsible for the correct administration of prescribed medication including transfusion of blood and blood products.

Person specification:

  • Education/Qualifications: RN1/RN2/RN12 or RN Child Registered Nurse on the NMC register.
  • Previous Experience: Experience of working on own and in a team.
  • Skills/Knowledge/Ability: Up to date knowledge of current clinical and professional issues, excellent communication skills, ability to assess, plan, implement & evaluate programmes of care.
