We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual who has the relevant skills to join Facilities and become part of the Environmental Co-ordinator Team, in a busy in-patient setting. Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment. You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. An annual fee of £16 per year applies.

Main duties of the job:

  • Working as part of the Facilities Services team, the post holder will support the Facilities Management Team and Clinical Teams, and will be responsible for ensuring that the environment across sites is safe, clean, and fit for purpose.
  • The post holder will have a central base and may have responsibility for multiple community sites across Nottingham, including hospitals, in-patient areas, day centres, health centres, and office areas.
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use is required for this post; however, reasonable adjustments will be made for disabled individuals in line with the Equality Act 2010.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities:

  • The post holder will work as part of the multi-disciplinary team and will be responsible for ensuring that each site or care setting across multiple locations in Nottingham is clean, tidy, safe, comfortable, and maintained to appropriate standards.
  • They will support clinical teams in the provision of meals for patients and act on their own initiative, working within the provisions of the Trust’s Health & Safety Policy, while ensuring accurate records are maintained.

Person specification:

Qualifications:
  • Educated to NVQ Level 3 standard or equivalent level of knowledge and experience.
  • Level 2 Food Safety Certificate.
Skills:
  • Ability to set up and maintain systems.
  • Ability to self-motivate and work as part of a team.
  • Effective time management and ability to withstand pressure.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Self-confident, flexible and reliable.
Training:
  • Ability to undertake all mandatory training as required by the individual site.
  • Ability to undertake any necessary skills and competency training required by the post.
  • Level 2 Health & Safety Certificate.
  • Level 3 Food Safety Certificate.
  • I.L.M level 3 or N.E.B.S.S Certificate or equivalent qualification.
Experience:
  • Experience of working in a healthcare setting.
  • Previous experience of working to Health and Safety legislation.
  • Experience in undertaking audits.
Knowledge:
  • Understanding of Infection Control.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety including COSHH/risk assessments/manual handling activities.
  • Knowledge of stock control procedures.
  • Knowledge of relevant NHS procedures and practices, including legal requirements.
Contractual Requirements:
  • Comply to Personal Appearance Standards and Personal Protective Equipment (Staff Uniform).
  • A full, current UK driving licence and access to a vehicle fit and insured for business use are required for this post.
  • Reasonable adjustments will be made for disabled staff in line with the Equality Act 2010.
  • To attend training on other sites within the Nottinghamshire NHS Trust.
  • Experienced driver, able to drive Trust vehicle.
