NNUH is currently the busiest Trauma Unit in the East of England, caring for almost 850 trauma patients annually, many with complex care needs. We are enhancing our urgent and emergency care specialist services for patients with significant injuries as a result of trauma and have an ambition to become a Major Trauma Centre.

Job overview: Applications invited for motivated, enthusiastic and reliable individuals keen to work within a highly skilled and diverse department as a phlebotomist. To maintain a high standard of patient care under the direction of the Phlebotomy Manager in collecting blood samples from patients. To support the delivery of a high-quality, safe and compassionate healthcare service. All staff are expected to act as role models to others in all aspects of their work and consistently demonstrate NNUH’s ‘PRIDE’ values of People focused, Respect, Integrity, Dedication and Excellence, and demonstrate behaviours that support and encourage an inclusive culture.

Main duties of the job:

  • To collect blood samples from patients in accordance with agreed Trust policies.
  • To generate blood request forms from ICE previously stored by medical/clinical staff.
  • To ensure that blood samples are delivered safely and efficiently to Pathology in an agreed time.

Shift times are Monday to Friday; staff are required to work every other weekend.
