Job overview

Rotational Clinical Pharmac – Band 6 (with band 6-7 development option)

Would you like to start your pharmacy journey working in a friendly, supportive, forward-thinking Pharmacy Department?

Are you recently finishing your trainee pharmacy year and want to work in an acute hospital where you can put all your learning into practice within different clinical rotations? Or have you worked in Community Pharmacy but would like to start work in the hospital environment?

Would you like the opportunity to develop your career in hospital pharmacy practice?

If yes to any of these questions, then this could be the job for you!

Our current band 6 pharmacists say our NGH Pharmacy team are \”so supportive and friendly\”, they are \”inspired by their seniors\” and \”there are lots of opportunities to learn and grow\”.

We would be delighted if you would like to come and visit the department and meet the team. If you can\’t make it onsite – don\’t worry! We are hosting a Virtual Q&A on 8th January 12pm-1pm. We can\’t wait to meet you!

Main duties of the job

To undertake duties in various aspects of Pharmacy; to provide Clinical Pharmacy Services; to optimise and ensure the safe use of medicines in the Trust; to develop personal skills, experience, professional judgement, and knowledge in all aspects of Pharmacy and the Hospital Service. Following successful completion of the NGH probationary period you will have the opportunity to be enrolled onto the Band 6-7 Development Programme. Successful achievement of the development programme will lead to progression to a Band 7 position.

We have a very strong team ethos with good support from your peers and the senior pharmacists and technicians who understand you are learning and maybe working in a new environment. You will work closely with our team of clinical pharmacists and medicines management technicians who support our pharmacists on the wards and allow you to focus on the clinical part of the job. We are in the process of implementing electronic prescribing and medicines administration on all our inpatient wards. We work closely with the doctors and nurses on ward and board rounds and within multidisciplinary teams.
