Main duties of the job

Applicants must be able to demonstrate excellent communication, organisational and processing skills. You will be required to work within a large multi-disciplinary team and be capable of undertaking a demanding workload. You should be familiar and confident with Microsoft office packages, and experience of working within the NHS would be advantageous. Knowledge of e-Record would be desirable. Full training will be given.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • To support the provision of an efficient reception / patient records / admin and clerical service within the operational services department.
  • To ensure patient documents are prepared, updated and delivered to the ward in a timely manner.
  • Provide information to patients, relatives and staff.
  • Deal with telephone enquires promptly.
  • To provide assistance and guidance to the patients/visitors on arrival to the Hospital.
  • To contribute to a consistently high standard of patient care as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • To ensure that data input is amended as necessary to comply with departmental target requirements.

Person specification

KNOWLEDGE

  • NHS software packages – Knowledge of e-Record System

SKILLS

  • Keyboard skills with a sound knowledge of computers
  • Good communication skills both written verbal and telephone skills

EXPERIENCE

  • Experience working in a patient/public environment in an administration or clerical role
  • Previous experience working within the NHS

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Good standard of English and Maths at GCSE or equivalent at grade 4 or above or equivalent or equivalent level experience
