An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Mental Health Services for Older People based in University Hospital Llandough. W e are looking for an enthusiastic, hard-working Medical Secretary to join our team on a fixed term contract to cover maternity leave.

We are searching for a person who shares our core values including caring for the people we serve and the people we work with; we trust and respect each other, take personal responsibility, treat people with kindness and act with integrity.

The individual must be reliable and flexible to meet service needs and used to working in a busy environment.

This is a fixed term /secondment post until 31 August 2026 to cover maternity leave.If you are interested in applying for the secondment position, you must obtain permission from your current line manager prior to applying for this post.

Main duties of the job

To ensure the Provision of a Comprehensive effective Secretarial Service to the Consultants, working within Mental Health Services for Older People.

Organise, plan and prioritise tasks and workload on the basis of the above. Assist with the implementation of new administrative and secretarial procedures.

The successful candidate will ideally have significant experience of working in a secretarial capacity, be able to work supportively with colleagues.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

  • Educated to GCSE level or Higher

Experience

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of a wide range of secretarial procedures

  • Experience of communicating with all levels of NHS staff

  • Knowledge of the Patient Management System (PARIS), UHB Intranet, Email, Results Reporting
