We are the Trafford Local Care Organisation, an NHS community health and adult social care service. We aim to improve local health by working across organisational boundaries.
Main duties of the job:
- Respond to phlebotomy requests for patients in the Primary Care Setting.
- Work as part of a team under the guidance of the Phlebotomy Supervisor and Phlebotomy Manager.
- Deliver services at various clinics across Trafford and Manchester and visit housebound patients in their own homes or residential/nursing homes.
- Operate with minimal clinical supervision after completing an approved training course.
- Assist in the training and development of Band 2 phlebotomists and undertake additional duties as required.
- Provide healthcare checks such as blood pressure, height, and weight monitoring as part of ongoing development programmes.
Person specification – Knowledge:
- Knowledge of specimen collection systems (monovette) and analysis of specimens.
- Knowledge of the clinical governance system and personal responsibilities.
- Ability to deal with emergency situations in venepuncture.
- Previous experience of working on own initiative.
- Knowledge of the roles and responsibilities of nursing and medical workforce within the community.
- Knowledge of GP practices and community clinics.
- Experience of working in the community.
