We are looking for a highly experienced and motivated psychologist/therapist to join the Manchester Eating Disorders Service and provide strategic clinical leadership. As clinical lead, you will be responsible for provision of senior psychology input and leading the service delivery of psychological care pathways for people with eating disorders.

  • Support Worker

Main duties of the job:

  • Offer assessment and therapy to the more complex service users presenting to the service utilizing evidence‑based models for the treatment of eating disorders.
  • Provide clinical supervision and maintain oversight of staff working in the service.
  • Supervise and teach trainees at all levels, including those taking advanced and highly specialist psychotherapy training and postgraduate training in clinical psychology.
  • Engage in peer supervision and peer consultation with clinical colleagues within the service.
  • Ensure that psychological aspects of Manchester Eating Disorders service provision continue to be maintained at the highest possible standards, ensuring people who use the service and their carers/families receive high quality care.

Person specification:

Education / Qualification:

  • A recognised qualification in one of the core mental health professions (e.g., psychiatric nursing, clinical psychology, medicine, social work, occupational therapy) with additional registration with HCPC or other appropriate professional body.
  • Training in evidence‑based psychological therapies for Eating Disorders.
  • Registration with HCPC or other appropriate professional body.

Experience:

  • Experience of working as a psychological therapist demonstrating competencies required for Band 8b.
  • Experience of clinical leadership and leading a service.
  • Experience of working therapeutically with people with Eating Disorders.
  • Experience in risk assessment, formulation and management particularly important.
  • Previous experience of delivering time‑limited psychological therapy to clients with complex mental health problems.
  • Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience of working with Commissioners and senior operational managers.

All positions within the Trust are subject to satisfactory pre‑employment checks. The Trust mandates all post holders who require a DBS for their role to subscribe to the DBS Update Service. You will be required to enrol for this service for a fee of £16 per year and maintain registration throughout your employment with GMMH.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration. This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
