The predicted salary is between 18306 - 26160 £ per year.

We are currently looking to recruit an Outpatient Receptionist working 37.5 hours - Mon, Tues & Fri 8-6pm, Thur 8-5.30pm off Wed including Saturdays on a rota basis. Staff may be asked to cross cover for leave/sickness so day off may alter depending on service needs.

Main Duties will include:

  • Checking in patients, updating contact details, booking appointments, recording clinical outcomes, booking ambulances etc.
  • Set up OPD clinics daily.
  • Provide reception cover for OPD clinics.
  • Book outpatient appointments.
  • Deal with telephone queries.
  • Calculate & authorise patient travel expenses.
  • Collect case notes from the Medical Records Department and organise the OPD department reception desk for the current day’s clinics.
  • Follow H&S guidelines for moving and handling of loads.
  • Check and update patient details to ensure data quality is maintained.
  • Book follow-up appointments using the PAS scheduling system.
  • Ensure all appointment outcomes are completed and all clinics are reconciled.
  • Record DNA’s as necessary.
  • Calculate, validate and authorise patient entitlement to travel expenses following Trust policy and populate the database.
  • Process all enquiries for information/case notes both face to face and on the telephone using the PAS system, ensuring confidentiality, Caldicott and data protection guidelines are followed.
  • Liaise with County ambulance control centres to process patient ambulance transport bookings.
  • Provide cover for colleagues in the event of sickness and holidays.
  • Liaise with colleagues, secretariat, ward staff and other departments as necessary to provide a courteous and efficient ward clerk service.

Person specification:

  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent
  • ECDL certificate or equivalent
  • Previously worked in administrative role without the need for direct supervision.
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • IT literate
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
