This is a very exciting opportunity for a Deputy Ward Manager to join the team on this busy 29 bedded General Medicine Ward. We are looking for a dynamic, highly motivated and enthusiastic person to join our Multi-disciplinary team, providing high quality nursing care within this busy ward.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, team working skills and a dedicated commitment to improving the patients' experience. You will need to demonstrate continuing professional development and a strong commitment to develop others and work closely within a Multidisciplinary team. Applicants must be able to evidence or demonstrate experience of working as a Band 5 or previous experience as a Band 6 within Medicine.

Main duties of the job:
  • You will support the ward manager to lead, provide and supervise a very high standard of compassionate care to our patients.
  • You will be supporting the safety and quality agenda of patient care and staff management, ensuring that the values and objectives of the Trust are met, whilst improving patient outcomes.
  • You will support the journey of the patient from admission to discharge, identify risk and formulate actions to reduce this risk and ensure patient throughput is effective.
  • You will display excellent leadership and effective communication skills and be able to demonstrate a proactive, collaborative and innovative approach to the clinical environment, passionate about excellence in patient care.
Person specification:
  • Qualifications: Registered Nurse, current NMC registration, Teaching and assessing qualification or equivalent.
  • Experience: Evidence of management experience, Evidence of change management, Application of evidence-based practice, Evidence of developing high standards of patient care, Lead role in education of staff and patients.
  • Knowledge: Application of current nursing issues and healthcare governance.
  • Skills: Ability to work in changing environments, Basic IT skills, including e-mail and word processing.
  • Other: Supportive of colleagues, High level of personal and professional credibility, Well motivated.
