Job overview

We’re excited to invite applications for a permanent Cardiology Consultant position with a special interest in imaging. This role involves cross-site working across both KGH and NGH, offering a varied and dynamic clinical experience.

Applicants should have completed their CCT and be on the Specialist Register.

Main duties of the job

This is a substantive appointment for a Consultant Physician in Cardiology.
The appointee will join a team of experienced Cardiology Consultants in delivering a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services including on call.

Qualifications

  • GMC Registration
  • • Inclusion on Specialist Register or to be within receipt of CCT within 6 months of interview.
  • MD, PhD

Knowledge/Experience

  • Wide experience in Cardiology & Imaging
  • Able to take full and independent responsibility for patients
  • Previous experience of working at consultant level

Teaching and Research

  • Actively encourages research with junior and other MDT staff
  • Experience of participating in clinical audit and clinical research
  • Experience in organising and delivering teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level
  • Publications in peer reviewed journals
  • Presentations at national and international meetings

Qualities

  • Be able to listen and communicate effectively to patients, relatives and staff.
  • Be able to work within a multidisciplinary team
  • Have organisational and management ability.
  • Be prepared to work in collaboration with colleagues in the NHS and other agencies.
  • Ability to apply research outcomes.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to take on additional professional responsibilities1
  • Experience of service development
  • Development and implementing clinical guidelines

If you need to have a Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check, as a requirement of the role, you will be required to repay the cost of obtaining a DBS check (ÂŁ49.50) and this amount will be reclaimed from your first salary. From 1st February 2019 all new starters to the Trust are required to join the DBS update service as per Trust DBS Re-checking Policy which has an annual cost of ÂŁ16. New employees who do not join the update service will be required to pay ÂŁ49.50 for a new DBS check in 3 years time.

Please note that news starters with KGH are subject to a six month probationary period.
