Job overview: The role within sexual health services will work in a busy integrated sexual health environment, within a multidisciplinary team. The staffing structure is designed to support the delivery of core services at the service hubs based at Wheatbridge, and spokes in a variety of locations throughout North Derbyshire including High Peak. You will be expected to work at various clinic locations, including in the High Peak and at the Hub in Wheatbridge - a valid driving license and vehicle for work is essential for this role.
Main duties of the job:
- Demonstrate knowledge of key STIs, including HIV, their transmission, clinical presentation and diagnosis.
- Provide quality care and behave professionally when undertaking procedures such as registering, advising and supporting patients in the clinical setting to undertake self-administered asymptomatic screens in line with BASHH guidance; perform follow up tests; code all clinical contacts; perform venepuncture; HIV laboratory testing; point of care testing; urine testing; pregnancy testing; gram staining; diagnostic microscopy.
- Support and assist with vasectomy clinics.
- Ensure clinic environment is properly prepared to a high standard to receive patients.
- Assist registered nurses and doctors with assessment of clinical needs in a responsive and professional manner.
- Support the smooth running of the clinic by providing a reception service and making appointments for patients.
- Always adhere to patient confidentiality.
Person specification:
Education, Qualification and Training:
- GCSE Maths & English (C or above)
- NVQ 2 level in a relevant subject or equivalent
- Venepuncture training within the last 3 years
