The Endoscopy Unit are looking to recruit an Endoscopy Technician. The successful applicant will join a team that provide a decontamination service of endoscopes in line with national decontamination guidelines to both the Endoscopy Department and other areas of the hospital. Previous experience of working in a decontamination unit is desirable.
Main duties of the job:
- Responsibilities will include decontamination of scopes, ensuring all equipment maintains a full traceability and service history and working as part of the team providing a full service to the unit to facilitate safe and efficient running of the service.
- The conduct and recording of checks on all types of processing equipment, and timely reporting of problems / faults.
- The correct dismantling and checking of instruments / equipment as appropriate.
- The correct use of all types of processing equipment whether for cleaning or sterilisation purposes.
- The correct assembly and checking of instruments / equipment as appropriate.
- The correct packing / labelling / sealing of instruments / equipment as appropriate.
- Soiled equipment processing.
- Unload collection trolleys in wash room.
- Scan all returned trackable equipment into computer system.
- Check returned sets against checklist and load into washer baskets.
- Report any errors in tray content to supervisor and user department and register in Non-Compliance Register.
- Prioritise sets for processing.
- Where necessary, dismantle instruments for thorough decontamination.
The unit is open between 7.00 - 7.00 Monday to Sunday. You would need to be able to be fully flexible with all shifts.
This position is offered as a secondment. Accordingly, you are required to consult with your manager and obtain approval prior to submitting your application.
