Job Overview
The post holder will be an accessible, patient‑focused and knowledgeable point of contact, supporting the Admin Manager and ensuring high levels of patient and clinician satisfaction.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide secretarial support to upper GI and colorectal services.
- Monitor/validate patients throughout their pathway, escalating issues promptly to meet waiting time standards.
- Support coordination of national and local audits through effective data collection.
Main Duties of the Job
We are seeking to appoint a Pathway Coordinator to join the administrative team in St Marks Hospital surgery department at Central Middlesex Hospital. Specific responsibilities:
- Provide support across the colorectal service.
- Demonstrate advanced communication and organisational skills.
- Use initiative and problem‑solving skills.
- Adequate attention to detail and passion for patient care are essential.
- Receive training to expand role to cover Patient Pathway Coordinator duties, as required.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- Support the Admin Manager to ensure all administrative processes are delivered to a high professional standard – including clinic letters and clinic outcomes.
- Take ownership of clinic templates and manage appointments to ensure clinics are booked to capacity.
- Re‑prioritise patients and make ad‑hoc urgent appointment requests as required.
- Track clinic outcomes to ensure requested tests are booked in an acceptable timeframe and re‑book out‑patients as needed.
- Track when results are available and liaise with relevant consultant to determine follow‑up need.
- Escalate any delays or non‑compliance to the Admin Manager.
Person specification
- Educated to A‑level/NVQ.
- Level 3 and 5 GCSEs, graded at C or above, or equivalent.
- Medical terminology qualification.
Experience
- Previous NHS experience working in an admin team.
- Cerner trained.
