Contract: Permanent, Band 3, Audiology. Works full‑time or part‑time across Doncaster Royal Infirmary and Bassetlaw General Hospital. 37.5 hours per week (7‑day service). Salary £24,937‑£26,598 per annum, pro rata, yearly. Closing 07/12/2025 23:59.

Role

  • Perform newborn hearing screens, record and collect data, liaise with parents and health professionals.
  • Works both on maternity units and outpatient sites across the trust.
  • Daily service including weekends and bank holidays (excluding Christmas Day and New Year’s Day).

Qualifications

  • Applicants must hold a Level 3 Diploma in newborn hearing screening or be prepared to undertake mandatory training upon appointment.
  • A driver’s licence is essential for travelling between hospital sites.

Main Duties

  • Identify babies requiring screening within guidelines and protocols.
  • Liaise effectively with parents, team members and other health care professionals to ensure timely delivery.
  • Carry out hearing screening (AOAE & AABR) and accurately record clinical and test data.
  • Organise and book outpatient appointments as required.
  • Perform data entry and upload screening results to the national recording system and report any difficulties.
  • Promote a professional, welcoming, caring environment endorsing a family‑friendly approach.
  • Complete mandatory training.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of procedures and policies.
  • Maintain privacy, dignity and confidentiality of babies and families.
  • Ensure safety and security of equipment and report problems to the Hearing Screening Local Manager.
  • Report incidents and progress to the NHSP Local Manager.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Confident baby‑handling skills.
  • Confidentiality at all times.
  • Experience in a healthcare setting.

Qualifications/Training

  • GCSE grade C or above in English and maths.
  • Level 3 Diploma in health screening (hearing) or eligibility to achieve within 18 months.
  • Competent use of computers.
  • Knowledge of hospital IT systems such as CaMIS, K2 Athena.
