We are seeking a highly motivated individual to work as a ward clerk supporting Ward 9. The successful candidate will need to be forward thinking and be able to provide a full range of clerical duties to support the smooth running of the ward. Good organisational and communication skills are essential as well as a flexible approach to work. Knowledge of health IT systems to include PCS would be desirable although full training will be given. The position will cover weekends, days and evenings up to 10 pm and both full and part time positions available.

The Trust manages Leighton Hospital in Crewe, Victoria Infirmary in Northwich, and Elmhurst Intermediate Care Centre in Winsford. We employ almost 5,000 members of staff, provide around 540 hospital beds, with a range of services including accident and emergency, maternity, outpatients, therapies, and children's health.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities:

To provide a comprehensive administration and clerical service within the ward. The post holder will be required to understand ward systems, taking into account the needs of patients who require admission, transfer and discharge, and be expected to communicate with a wide range of professionals, consultants, doctors, nursing staff and patients/relatives and carers, organising own workload in order to maintain an efficient and professional service.

Experience:

  • Proficient in computer skills, ECDL or equivalent, Microsoft Office.
  • Previous NHS experience with the Hospitals computer systems.

Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrate good understanding of working on a busy ward/work environment.
  • Previous experience working with patients' notes and filing.

The salary threshold for sponsorship is £25,000 for Health and Care Visas and £41,700 (with limited exceptions) for Skilled Worker visas. The Trust will not sponsor where the starting salary does not meet these immigration rules.

We do not reimburse travel to interview expenses.

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
