In this vital role, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and commissioning a wide range of medical and healthcare equipment used across multiple clinical settings—from wards and theatres to critical care and emergency departments. Main duties of the job
- Deliver preventative maintenance, servicing, calibration, and repairs on a broad range of electrical, electronic, and mechanical medical devices.
- Support the commissioning and acceptance of new medical equipment.
- Diagnose faults and carry out corrective actions on patient-connected and life-support systems.
- Provide technical advice and support to clinical staff, promoting safe and effective equipment use.
- Work across various departments, occasionally under pressure, to support urgent clinical needs.
- Maintain meticulous technical records in line with ISO 9001:2015 standards and Trust protocols.
- Contribute to training, continuous improvement, and development initiatives within the Clinical Engineering service.

Person specification
Education/Knowledge and Qualifications
- HNC or Level 4 qualification in Clinical Engineering, Electronics, or equivalent.
- Further technical or vocational training (e.g., medical device servicing courses).
- Working towards professional registration (EngTech).
Experience
- Experience of working with electronic or electromechanical systems.
- Previous NHS or healthcare engineering experience.
- Experience using a CMMS (e.g., e-Quip).
Knowledge
- Basic understanding of medical equipment safety and function.
- Familiarity with health and safety practices.
- Awareness of standards such as IEC 62353, UK MDR.
